First Weeks In The USA

Hey Everybody, 

So i have officially been living in New Jersey, USA for 2 weeks today. Which is crazy, it has gone so fast. And i am loving it!!! Obviously the first wee bit is a tad stressful, which it has definitely proven to be. American Systems seem to be a lot more complicated then Australian things, so processes take a lot longer and are a struggle. Which is annoying when you are trying to quickly set up a new life. 

I'm slowly starting to get used to the different lifestyle and DRIVING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD!! (which actually isn't that bad). 

We had an AMAZING Blizzard which you all heard of on the news on my second weekend here. #SnowstormJonas. It was awesome and i officially am in love with snow and blizzards. (Besides the damage they unfortunately caused lots of people). Its weird but i absolutely love the way the sky looks when it was snowing. The beautiful grey sky. Weird i know. 

My house looks like an absolute winter wonderland and i am so excited to move in, in a couple of weeks. (We are staying in temporary accommodation until we have some basic furniture to live off until our container arrives). I was at the house today and i freaked out and was in awe, as i watched three Deer jump bound across my front and backyard, it was so cool.

My New bed finally arrived today, which makes me very happy and excited!! But downside to moving across the world, means it takes months for all of our furniture to arrive here. All of our stuff isn't arriving till end of February/beginning of March, which is frustrating, but also means we get to buy some new stuff in the meantime and as we have a much bigger house that we aren't used to!!! We need to fill it with stuff haha.

Can't wait to decorate my new room, with the new theme I've picked for it. I will share photo's and maybe do a room tour when I've finished decorating and furnishing.

I'm going to try my best to slowly get back into my fashion/beauty posts and i might try some decor posts as well! so bare with me, while i get back into the swing of things.

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas, to all you gorgeous people.

I hope you have had a wonderful day, with your friends and family, and that it was filled with love, laughter, food and games. 

I have spent christmas here in New Zealand with my whole family on my mums side. It was such a fun day here in Auckland. It was lovely to see everyone before we move to NY! We had all the cousins and aunts and uncles over and the new baby second cousins who are just the cutest little munchkins ever. 

We had so much food, that i am still full and its now boxing day (day after xmas). We had a Ham, Turkey, salads galore, and then of course dessert!!! We had a pavlova and gf chocolate cake, and gf cheesecake and a tiramisu and a huge fruit salad, it was solo yummy. 

We all opened presents in the morning and then had a big, and hilarious secret santa, which involved a lot of stealing presents that you liked from someone else.  

Today we are going out on the boat and going water skiing, which is so much fun and of course bringing left overs for a little (big) picnic with xmas food. 

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday time with family. Don't forget to hug and tell your family you love them as it is a great time of year to do so.

Stereosonic!!!

Two days ago (staurday) i went to the Australian Music Festival Stereosonic, and it was amazing!!!!

So epic. 

Huge crowds and amazing outfits, music and food; whats not to love about music festivals?!

The Knots Prayer

Hey, 

Now I'm not religious at all, but this little prayer was something my Mum printed out for me and gave to me when i was going through a hard time earlier in the year. It helped me realise something and made a few things a lot clearer in my mind. This may sound silly to some of you and that's okay. But i feel like no matter what you are going through this can alway be something that could help, and you can relate it to any situation. 

The Knots Prayer: 

Dear God: 

Please untie the knots

that are in my mind, 

my heart and my life. 

Remove the have nots, the can nots and the do nots

that i have in my mind.

Erase the will nots,

may nots,

might nots that may find 

a home in my heart.

Release me from the could nots, 

would nots and

should nots that obstruct my life.

And most of all,

Dear God,

I ask that you remove from my mind,

my heart and my life all of the 'am nots' 

that i have allowed to hold me back, especially the thought

that i am not good enough. 

Amen

If you are having trouble in life and feeling like no matter what you do, its never good enough. Then sit down and read this to yourself. Because YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH!!! No matter what anybody says or tells you YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH. You just have to believe in yourself.

Change is in the Air

When i say change is in the air, i literally mean it's in the air. I will be in the air, on an airplane on my way into the next chapter of my life. To a place that is completely different to everything I'm used to and comfortable with. A place that holds some of the greatest cities in the world and has thousands of opportunities. 

If you still don't know what the hell I'm blabbering on about, then i'll just get to it;

IM MOVING TO AMERICA

Yes, there it is. 

I am moving to the states, i am incredibly excited but also very anxious. 

It has been in the works for about a year now, but it's official now!

I'm moving with my family in early January to New Jersey about 40mins from Manhattan, NY!!!

So if anyone lives in or near New Jersey or even New York, please leave a comment i'd love to know where you guys live!!!

A lot of exciting things ahead in the coming months... stay tuned and watch this space.

Japanese Salmon With Edamame Salad

So i have been trying my best to eat relatively healthy, as i've recently started a fitness/health regime. I have also recently been diagnosed as Coeliac (can't eat gluten), but as do a lot of people i still have my bad moments. This recipe is one that i have been thoroughly enjoying over the last few months. It is so delicious and relatively easy!! In a few days i will share another one i love. 

(Serves: 4, Prep: 25 mins, Cook: 15 mins)

* 4 x 200g skinless, boneless salmon fillets

*1 tbsp white miso

*1 tbsp brown sugar 

*1 tbsp finely grated ginger

*2 garlic gloves, crushed

*1 tbsp chilli flakes

*2 bunches asparagus, trimmed

*2 cups frozen edamame 

*50g baby spinach leaves 

*4 green onions, thinly sliced

*1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted, to serve

Dressing: 

*1/4 cup soy sauce

*1/4 cup rice-wine vinegar

*2 tsp sesame oil

*2 tsp finely grated ginger

1. Preheat oven to very hot, 220°C (428°F). Line an oven tray with baking paper

2. Place salmon on tray. In a small bowl, combine miso, sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic and chilli.  Brush all over salmon. Bake 10-12 minutes until browned and cooked to taste. 

3. Meanwhile , blanch asparagus and edamame in a saucepan of boiling water 1 minute until bright green. Transfer to a bowl of iced water. Drain well. Pod Edamame. 

4. Dressing: 

In a jug, whisk all ingredients together. 

5. In a large bowl, combine spinach and onion with blanched vegetables. Toss gently with dressing. 

6. Serve salmon on a bed of salad. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. 

Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!!
